PANCAKES

GREEN LENTIL PANCAKES Ingredients

  • 250 gm green moong dal or 1/2 lb
  • 2 onions
  • 2 serrano peppers chopped ( optional)
  • 2 pinch chaat masala
  • 1 teaspoon garlic
  • 3 teaspoon cumin
  • 3 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1 cup cilantro leaves chopped
  • 1 teaspoon chana masala powder
  • 100 gm ghee

For the Filling

  • 1 large onion
  • 2 sprigs mint
  • 50 gm greek curd
  • Grated cheese

Instructions

  1. Soak the green lentils in water overnight.
  2. Wash, add salt and cook them in a pressure cooker till soft.  Remove and cool.
  3. Meanwhile, fry chopped onions in ghee. Add cumin, ginger, hot peppers and sauté till onions are light brown.
  4. Mix the cooled lentils with this mix. Now add , masala powder, chopped cilantro, chat masala, salt & garlic to this mixture and mix thoroughly.
  5. Remove the pan from heat and keep it aside to allow it to cool. Add Psyllium husk powder one teaspoon.
  6. If you want a quick recipe, just combine above till it becomes a pancake type batter.
  7. Pour on a hot griddle and serve with a dollop of grass fed butter.

If you wish to have a cheese filling

  1. Combine chopped onion, greek yogurt , chopped mint, grated cheese and mix well. Add spices as per your taste.
  2. Take a bit of the lentil mixture in a ball shape and insert the filling into the center. Close the hole, flatten the lentil ball and bake in a 35°0 F oven for 10 minutes. Or pan fry for 5 minutes and serve with chutney or ghee.
